A security guard in Carlsbad, California, was arrested after firing a stun gun into a man’s face at close range outside a bar. The incident, captured on camera, shows a confrontation unfolding outside the venue before the man collapses to the ground.Videos circulating online show a shirtless man standing near the entrance to the venue when the guard pulls out a stun gun and shoots him at close range, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.A later clip shows the guard being escorted by handcuffed police officers.According to local outlet SanDiegoVille, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, June 24, just before 8:30 p.m., during a crowded viewing party for a soccer match between Mexico and the Czech Republic at Park 101.The Carlsbad Police Department said in a statement reported by the newspaper: “The investigation determined that during the incident, a security guard allegedly fired a stun gun during the altercation. The adult male was evaluated by the Carlsbad Fire Department and transported to a local hospital for treatment.”
David Marquez, 42, of San Marcos, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a stun gun, police said.
“The incident remains under investigation.
