Two Indians arrested by ICE: One for attempted child abuse, another for $60,000 theft

Two Indians, Hemant Khan Kumar (left) and Rinkishkumar Kaushikbhai Patel, were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement released a list of arrests it made over the past weekend that included two Indians: Hemant Khan Kumar and Rinkishkumar Kaushikbhai Patel. The agency said that Hemant Khan Kumar is a criminal and an illegal alien from India who was convicted of attempting to commit a lewd act with a child in Contra Costa County, California.

Regarding Patel, the agency said that he was convicted of conspiracy to commit theft of more than $60,000 in Bradley County, Tennessee.Patel was sentenced to six years in prison, but his sentence was suspended after just under a year, and ICE then took over his detention, ICE said. “ICE took him from the Bradley County Jail and will hold him pending removal proceedings,” the agency said.Over the weekend, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested more illegal aliens convicted of horrific crimes, including manslaughter with intent to cause serious bodily injury, criminal sexual conduct of a person between the ages of 13 and 15, and sexual battery, the agency said.

“Under President Trump and Secretary Mullen, ICE has never taken a day off,” Acting Assistant Secretary Loren Pace said. “This weekend, ICE arrested numerous murderers, child molesters, sex offenders, violent attackers, drug dealers, and con artists. Thank you to our law enforcement at ICE for apprehending these criminals from our communities. The ice is beautiful.”Others arrested over the weekend include Farhan Ahmed, of Pakistan, convicted of first-degree manslaughter with intent to cause serious bodily injury in Queens, New York.

What is an ICE detainer? What will happen next?

ICE detainer is a request from the agency to local law enforcement authorities to notify these people that they are in the country illegally, and ICE will take over their detention after they face justice for their removal. ICE is notified before these criminals are released. After ICE takes custody, people may be placed in immigration detention and face deportation proceedings.
