US President Donald Trump on Thursday shared a revised map that renamed the Strait of Hormuz the “Trump Strait” after claiming that the naval blockade against Iran could last for months.Trump posted the photo on his account on the Truth Social website, where he described the strategic Strait of Hormuz as “Trump’s Strait” without comment. The graphic was originally posted by an account called “IStandWithTrump47.”

This is not the first time Trump has made such statements. In an earlier statement, he appeared to confuse the name, saying Iran needed to “open the Strait of Trump, I mean the Strait of Hormuz.”
“Excuse me, I’m so sorry. What a huge mistake. The fake news will say, ‘He said by chance’ – no, there were no incidents with me, and they weren’t very many.”
“If that were the case, we would have a big story,” he added. This development comes at a time when Trump indicated that the US naval blockade against Iran may continue for several months. The blockade, in place since mid-April, targets ships entering or leaving Iranian ports, and has contributed to a rise in global oil prices, which recently reached their highest levels in more than four years.Earlier, a report issued by the Institute for the Study of War indicated that Iran is unlikely to back down from its position.
The analysis indicates that the hard-line approach led by Ahmed Vahidi has become dominant within Tehran’s leadership.According to the report, Iran is unwilling to negotiate its nuclear program until the United States lifts the blockade and explores alternative strategies to maintain its influence. These include a potential plan with Oman to impose fees on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, allowing Tehran to present a “new proposal” without compromising its core demands.
The report also indicates that Iran may seek to pressure the United States indirectly by encouraging Houthi groups in Yemen to target ships in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Scott Besent said that the combined effect of sanctions and the naval blockade will cause long-term damage to the Iranian economy.“Through economic outrage, the Treasury Department has targeted Iran’s international banking infrastructure, access to cryptocurrencies, its shadow fleet, arms procurement networks, financing terrorist proxies in the region, and independent Chinese refineries that support Iran’s oil trade.
Scott said that these actions disrupted revenues estimated at tens of billions of dollars that would have been used to finance terrorism.“Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal, will soon approach its storage capacity, forcing the regime to reduce oil production, resulting in an additional revenue loss of approximately $170 million per day, and causing lasting damage to Iran’s oil infrastructure. The Treasury Department will continue to exert maximum pressure and any person, vessel, or entity that facilitates illicit flows into Tehran risks exposure to U.S. sanctions.”
“Penalties,” he added.
