Bangladesh Nationalist Party chief Tariq Rahman, who is considered the frontrunner for the prime ministerial post, is leading in his constituency in Dhaka.

According to the report, this figure has been prepared based on the partial results received from the Returning Officer’s office till 9:30 pm on Thursday.
Overall, BNP was ahead in 50 seats and Jamaat in 18 as of 10.30 pm, Reuters reported, citing a local TV news station. Parliament of Bangladesh – National Parliament – has 300 seats. Of these, 151 are required for a simple majority.
Voting for the general election in Bangladesh ended on Thursday. This is the first election in the country after the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
BNP Chairman Tarek Rahman is ahead by getting 38 thousand 428 votes in the results of 27 centers in Bogra-6 Constituency with 150 centers. His closest rival Jamaat-e-Islami’s Abidur Rahman has so far secured 17,428 votes.

Rahman urged all voters to exercise their rights in his social media post. “Vote for whoever you think is most qualified. Vote according to your choice and establish your rights and ownership over the state,” he said. He also took responsibility that “every winning candidate of BNP fulfills their duties faithfully.”
