Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his differences with US President Donald Trump, saying there were times when the two could not see eye to eye. The public repercussions between the two were clear during the Iranian agreement, especially when the American President was trying to conclude a peace agreement with Tehran and the ongoing Israeli aggression against Lebanon prevented that. The Times of Israel quoted Netanyahu as saying, “Often we agree face to face, and there are also cases when we do not see eye to eye. I am responsible for Israel’s security interests. I defend them.”He also stated that the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran saved his country from what he called the Islamic Republic’s threat of “nuclear annihilation.”“The most important thing is that we saved the State of Israel from the threat of nuclear annihilation,” Netanyahu said.He added: “And what would that mean? It would mean that millions of Israeli citizens – all of you who are listening to me now – were at terrible risk of mass death… and we have kept at bay, for years, this risk of annihilation of the population of Israel.”Netanyahu pledged to never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons, regardless of the terms of any agreement. He added: “Whether an agreement is reached or not, Iran will not possess nuclear weapons.”
He added, “I did nothing wrong at all… We said that we want to remove the existential threat that hangs over us: first, the nuclear threat – and we did that, and secondly, the missile threat – and we did that.”Netanyahu made his first public comments since the United States and Iran announced an agreement earlier this week to end the Middle East war.
