WASHINGTON: President Trump on Sunday used the shooting at an event he attended in Washington to advance his plans to build a massive ballroom next to the White House that has faced legal challenges.“What happened last night is exactly why our great military, secret service, law enforcement, and for various reasons have asked every president over the last 150 years to build a large, safe and secure ballroom on the grounds of the White House,” Trump wrote on the social platform Truth. The $400 million ballroom has become a passion project for Trump. In his message on Sunday, Trump praised the security features of the proposed dance hall. “This event would never have happened with the top secret military hall currently being built at the White House,” Trump wrote.“It can’t be built fast enough! Although it’s beautiful, it has all the top-level safety features.”
