Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reportedly submitted his resignation letter to the Supreme Leader’s office, Fox News reported, citing an Iranian media report.According to the report, which cited an unnamed Iran International source, Pezeshkian stated in the letter that his administration was excluded from key decision-making processes in Iran, while hard-line factions within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) took control of key affairs. The report also claimed that Pezeshkian wrote that he was unable to govern effectively or fulfill his legal responsibilities under the circumstances and therefore requested to step down immediately.Iran International also said it was unclear whether the office of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei would accept the resignation. However, an official from the Iranian presidential office denied these reports. The Undersecretary for Communications and Information Dissemination in the Office of the President of the Republic, Sayed Mahdi Tabatabai, said: The baseless and controversial statements of a young man seeking fame about the positions of the President of the Republic should not be taken seriously.
The childish behaviors of some misguided elements should not perpetuate this false narrative that the youth lack the capacity to play a role in the governance of the country.
“Iran is full of young intellectuals who have not had the opportunity to have excellent management.”Rejecting the resignation reports, he added: “The rumour-mongering by the notorious foreign network is a continuation of the previous ridiculous media games. They have spread their own wishes instead of reality. President Pezeshkian will not retreat from serving the people, just as the Iranian nation will not retreat from the path of solidarity and resistance. They will carry their desire to destroy the unity of the Iranian nation to the grave.”
