Iran-US tensions live: At the inaugural Peace Council meeting, Donald Trump repeated the threats, saying: “Now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that complements what we are doing.”
Live updates on tension between Iran and the United States: Amid escalating tensions, US President Donald Trump warned Iran on Thursday not to reach a nuclear deal within 10 to 15 days or “it will be unfortunate.” Speaking to reporters, Trump said: “Either we will reach an agreement, or it will be unfortunate for them… 10 to 15 days will be enough time.”

At the inaugural meeting of the peace council, Trump repeated the threats, saying: “Now is the time for Iran to join us on a path that complements what we are doing. If they join us, that would be great. If they don’t join us, that would be great, too. But it will be a completely different path.”
The heated talks follow the second round of talks, brokered by Oman, in Geneva, and have continued between the two countries since the Islamic Republic launched a deadly crackdown on anti-regime protests that rocked the country in December 2025.
While the United States seeks to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb, which the country claims it does not seek, it seeks relief from US sanctions.
Meanwhile, the US Supreme Court ruled on Friday that Trump acted unlawfully by using the long-standing federal emergency powers law to justify his “reciprocal” tariffs.
Following the ruling, Trump imposed a 10% global tariff on foreign goods in a move aimed at protecting his trade agenda, HT reported earlier.
