An Indian-origin woman was shot dead in a convenience store in Virginia, US.
A 45-year-old Indian woman was shot and killed in the supermarket in Virginia where she had worked for years. The killing of Mejnaben Patel on the morning of May 23, who was originally from the Indian state of Gujarat, was captured on a surveillance camera inside the store.
In the video, the attacker, with his face covered, can be seen approaching the table where Majnabin Patel was working. After a short while, the man put his hands in his pockets, pulled out a gun, and shot her. The shooter then distributed some items around the store, fired several shots and fled.Local reports from Virginia reported a fatal shooting at a Fat Philly store, where a female employee was shot and killed, although the reports did not identify the victim.
They said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between a stepfather and stepchild, and was not related to the store or employee who was shot.
Police received a call at about 8:13 a.m. about a domestic dispute and went to the 3100 block of Blackwood Street, which is located off Sewells Point Road in the city’s Greenwood section. Reports indicated that a man and his stepfather were arguing. The young man was leaving the house when he returned and fired a bullet into the house.
When officers arrived, they found the 45-year-old stepfather with a non-fatal gunshot wound.
He went to the hospital to receive treatment.About 20 minutes later, the gunman came into the store, which was located about a 20-minute walk or five-minute drive from the initial crime scene. The store was mostly empty, and the clerk was at the counter. After a short conversation, according to surveillance footage, the gunman began shooting. Then the police received a report that a car had been left driving on the road in an unknown location. When officers arrived, they found the suspect with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which led to his death.
Police said they are not looking for any additional suspects, but the investigation is ongoing.
