'I want my marriage': Wife says she is deeply hurt after husband Graham Blattner's sexting with other women becomes public

Graham Blattner’s wife says she feels betrayed by the person who exposed her husband’s sexting scandal.

Graham Blattner, the Democratic Senate candidate from Maine, broke his silence on the sexting scandal and criticized the Wall Street Journal and New York Times for publishing gossip stories.

However, the gossip was allegedly made by her wife Amy Gaertner, who has now said that it is shameful for the media to spread gossip. She said: “There is no perfect marriage, and I don’t want a perfect marriage. I want my marriage.”Blatner is seeking the Democratic nomination against Republican Sen. Susan Collins in one of Maine’s most closely watched Senate races, which goes to a primary on June 9.

What is Blatner’s sexting scandal?

The Wall Street Journal reported that Blatner’s wife, Gertner, told the campaign in August last year that she had seen sexual messages on her husband’s phone earlier in their marriage.

The New York Times, which also published a story Saturday about the texts, said former aide Genevieve McDonald was one of the then-campaign staffers who confirmed the messages.Gertner said what she shared with a campaign aide was personal, and she feels hurt by being betrayed by the former campaign aide.“It’s no surprise to me that the mainstream media is spreading gossip instead of wanting to talk about the things that actually matter in this race, which are the physical facts that Mainers is working with,” Blattner said, trying to pin his personal failings on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

Blattner said he is in a very loving and happy marriage and the media doesn’t write about that. “We talked about things that Amy and I had gone through in our marriage over the years. We talked about it because this is our marriage, and we discussed it with the campaign,” Blattner said.Platner, an oyster farmer and war veteran, rarely stays out of controversy. Last year, it was reported that Plattner had a tattoo on his chest resembling the Totenkopf, or death’s head symbol, used by the Nazi SS. Plattner said he obtained it during a drunken night in Croatia in 2007 and did not know it had anything to do with the Nazis. He later signed it with a “Celtic knot with some pictures about dogs,” he said.
