State media reported Saturday (January 31, 2026) that an explosion occurred at a building in the Iranian city of Bandar Abbas on the Gulf coast, although the cause of the explosion was not yet known.
State television said the explosion occurred in an eight-storey building in the city’s Molem Boulevard area.
Rescue and firefighting teams are on the spot to provide assistance, it added.
officer IRNA The cause of the blast is being investigated, the news agency reported, citing Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, director general of crisis management in Hormozgan province.
“Those injured in the incident are being shifted to hospital by emergency responders,” he added, without reporting any casualties.
Images carried by state TV showed the facade of the building blown away, exposing parts of its interior, with debris strewn around.
Other Iranian media carried similar reports without giving details about the cause.
The blast came at a tense moment for Iran after the United States deployed an aircraft carrier group to the region following bellicose rhetoric from US President Donald Trump.
