Dubai has taken another big step in its smart mobility journey by launching the first integrated smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates. The new station, unveiled by the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, combines artificial intelligence, sustainability and around-the-clock digital services to create a faster and more comfortable transportation experience. The future station is directly connected to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station and currently serves 11 bus lines across Dubai. These include six metro branch lines, three internal lines and two seasonal roads, improving connectivity between residential, commercial and tourist areas.Dubai officials described the project as a major milestone in the emirate’s larger plan to modernize public transportation using digital technology and smart infrastructure.
The station is expected to reduce waiting times, improve passenger movement, and encourage more residents to use public transportation.
Details of the new smart bus station in Dubai
The new smart bus station at Mall of the Emirates is not only a modern transport hub, it is also one of the most connected public transport points in Dubai. The station is directly connected to the Mall of the Emirates Metro Station on the Red Line, allowing passengers to move seamlessly between the metro, buses and taxis.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority, the station currently serves 11 lines, including six metro feeder buses, three internal lines, and two seasonal services. These roads connect major residential communities, commercial areas and tourist hotspots across Dubai. Some of the most commonly used feeder roads and city roads include:
- F29 – connects Al Quoz Industrial Area
- F30 – Serves Dubai Production City (IMPZ) and Al Barsha South
- F33 – Covers Al Barsha residential complexes
- F35 – Links The Greens, Barsha Heights and Dubai Internet City
- F36 – connects Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)
- F37 – Travel towards Sports City and Motor City
- Route 106 – Seasonal service to Global Village during operating months
The station also provides connections to areas such as Umm Suqeim, Al Sufouh, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Science Park, Dubai Studio City and Al Ghubaiba.
Tourist destinations including Dubai Miracle Garden and Global Village can also be reached via the network. Most feeder buses run every 15 to 20 minutes during the day, while expressways and longer distances generally run every 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic and peak hours. Operating hours for most services begin between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and continue until approximately midnight. For example, the F37 route towards Sports City usually starts at around 5:30am from Mall of the Emirates, and the final service departs around 11:30pm.Passengers can track buses in real time using the RTA’s Es’hail app, digital station screens and artificial intelligence-powered information systems within the smart station. Many Reddit users in Dubai also describe the Suhail app as the most accurate tool for checking live bus arrival times and delays during peak traffic hours.
AI-powered technology is transforming mobility
One of the most notable features of the new smart bus station is its extensive use of artificial intelligence and real-time monitoring systems.
The station features artificial intelligence-powered cameras that monitor crowd movement, detect violations, and help manage passenger flow more efficiently.Large digital displays installed throughout the station provide live updates on bus arrivals, metro schedules, taxi availability and navigation instructions within the facility. Interactive kiosks and proactive digital platforms operate around the clock, allowing passengers to access transportation information in real time. The station also integrates with Dubai’s broader smart transportation system, including Nol card services and digital mobility platforms such as the S’hail app. Officials say the aim is to create a seamless multi-transit experience where passengers can seamlessly move between buses, metro services and taxis.Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said that the station reflects Dubai’s strategy to create a modern and attractive public transport environment supported by advanced digital solutions.
Dubai’s future ambitions
The opening of the smart bus station reflects Dubai’s broader ambition to position itself as a global leader in smart urban mobility and sustainable transportation systems. Authorities believe that such projects will make public transportation more attractive, efficient and environmentally friendly as the city continues to grow. This launch also comes as Dubai accelerates several major transportation projects, including new metro expansions, smart mobility systems and modernization of digital infrastructure aimed at supporting millions of residents and tourists in the coming years. However, for daily commuters, the biggest change may simply be a smoother, smarter journey, with air-conditioned waiting areas, live travel updates, AI-assisted crowd management, and faster connections, all combined in one future transportation hub.
