He repeated, “The vice-president was booed during the inauguration? What do you make of that frosty…” Trump’s face was taken aback by the question.
He immediately asks, “No. Is it true? Is it right?” He continued, “It’s amazing because people like him. Well, I mean, he’s in a foreign country, you know, in all fairness. He’s not ostracized in this country.”
What happened at the opening ceremony?The Vice President, who attended the event as the US President’s representative at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, was welcomed. The crowd booed when he and his wife Usha Vance appeared on the big screen during the Parade of Nations.

“There’s the vice president, J.D. Vance, and his wife, Usha-Op,” said CBC commentator Adrienne Arsenault during the broadcast of the inauguration ceremony. Whistles, jeers, some applause.”
The crowd’s reaction to seeing the vice president contrasted with how it reacted to US athletes. The American team that participated in the Winter Olympics received a warm welcome in Italy.
Earlier this week, ahead of the ceremony, IOC president Kirsty Coventry said, “I hope that everyone sees the opening ceremony as an opportunity to be respectful of each other,” when asked about the possibility of Ziering.
