Connecting the Indian port of Mundra with Jeddah to Saudi Arabia on a new shipping route on the Red Sea

Mundra Port, India’s largest commercial sea port

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) launched a new shipping service linking the Jeddah Islamic Port with the Indian Port of Mundra, with the aim of strengthening maritime trade relations and improving logistical efficiency between the two countries.

The new SRS service connects three major commercial centres

The newly launched SRS shipping service will connect Jeddah Islamic Port with Mundra Port in India and Djibouti Port in East Africa. The route will operate with a capacity of 2,144 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units), significantly increasing container movement capacity through the corridor.

Strengthening supply chains and Red Sea trade

According to Mwani, the new service is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and facilitate smoother trade flows through the Red Sea, one of the busiest sea routes in the world. The initiative also aims to enhance Saudi Arabia’s global logistics performance and support the growth of national exports.

Part of the broader logistics transformation plan

This step is in line with the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global logistics center linking Asia, Africa and Europe.Officials said that adding such services strengthens the Kingdom’s ambition to become a central node in international trade routes, improving its position in global logistics competitiveness rankings.
