Carlos Palazuelos, the man taken into custody for questioning in connection with the Nancy Guthrie investigation, has now been released, CNN reported Wednesday, citing its affiliate KNXV.

The arrest was made based on investigative leads. However, the man was not charged, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to CNN at the time.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday that investigators have completed a search of a property in Rio Rico.

Carlos Palazuelos’ mother-in-law speaks after his arrestPalajuelos’ mother-in-law maintains that he is innocent. Speaking to News Nation Senior National Correspondent Brian Antin, a woman who identified herself as “Josephina” said her son-in-law was present at her residence in Rio Rico, Arizona when Guthrie disappeared.

The person detained during the traffic stop is not currently being identified as a suspect.

She revealed that Carlos and her daughter have been living in her home since being evicted from their previous home and are currently awaiting their tax refund to secure enough funds to move.

“My daughter and her, and the kids, my grandkids were doordashing when they stopped by,” Josefina told the outlet.

“They have already asked us many questions about her. Like I said, I have nothing to hide. You can go to my house. You can search all you want. There is nothing to hide. I don’t know the lady, I don’t know about the lady. I saw her (missing) on ​​Facebook,” he added.

Carlos Palajuelos’ mother-in-law calls him a ‘good guy’Calling her son-in-law a “good guy”, Josefina insisted he had no criminal record or history of violence. When presented with surveillance footage of the man captured on Nancy Guthrie’s ring camera, Josefina said it did not resemble Carlos.

He also noted that he was “certainly” his son-in-law was at home when Guthrie disappeared. “On weekends, he stays at my house. He doesn’t go anywhere,” she told News Nation.

When asked about the possibility of leaving at night, Josefina replied, “Oh, no, no,” explaining that her van is currently idle.
