Carlos Palazuelos talks about his arrest in the Nancy Guthrie caseSpeaking with ABC15 reporter Ford Hatchett, the man said his wife was driving the car when they were pulled over due to police chasing them.

After being pulled over, he expressed his shock, saying he had no idea who Guthrie was or who law enforcement believed might be connected to his abduction.

“They told me I was detained for kidnapping. I asked them, ‘Whose kidnapping?'” said the man, whose identity authorities did not release.

Hachette shared the exclusive video on X and the man told him he wanted to be identified as Carlos.

“I told them … I might deliver a package to their house but I’ve never kidnapped anyone.”

Authorities have not verified whether Carlos is a person of interest or has been released as a person of interest.

Carlos Palajus Mother-Law maintains his innocenceMeanwhile, his mother-in-law spoke to News Nation and claimed his innocence, calling him a “good guy”.

Speaking to reporters, Josephine Maddox said authorities are investigating her property.

“(Investigators told me) someone tipped them off that the woman (Guthrie) was in the house,” Maddox said. “… I don’t know who he is. I don’t know anything about him. … I told them you can go home and check; there’s nobody there. I have nothing to hide. … They’re investigating my son-in-law. … He had nothing to do with it,” Maddox said, according to CBS News.

According to him, Carlos works as a delivery driver in Maddox’s Tucson.

“… They’re just invading my property. I told him (an investigator) they’re going in and out of my house, taking a lot of pictures and everything. I mean, like, I told him, we’re not hiding anything. I gave him permission. You can go and search my house and there’s nothing. You’re not going to find anything because we have nothing to hide.”

Maddox said when she arrived home, she found her son outside the home, handcuffed.

Maddox also noted that the silver vehicle, which was stopped by authorities during a person-of-interest arrest, belonged to his daughter, CBS News reported.

He said investigators presented him with surveillance footage from Guthrie’s residence that was released Monday in an effort to identify the man in custody in the videos. However, the clothes the potential suspect was wearing do not have a son-in-law.
