Candace Owens says she has no plans to run for president in 2028, but she already knows who she’ll support if the campaign takes shape. Speaking at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in Russia on June 4, Owens publicly supported Tucker Carlson as someone she would like to see enter the presidential race.

The podcast host made the comments during an interview with former CNN anchor Rick Sanchez, who now lives in Moscow. Owens was attending the event alongside several well-known figures, including Steven Seagal and Andrew Tate. When Sanchez raised speculation about her political future, Owens was quick to dismiss the idea. She said that she was not very interested in working within the traditional political system, and joked that she would rather be a dictator than president.“I always tell listeners I would never run for president, I would only run for dictator, because I don’t deal with Congress, I don’t deal with lobbyists, I don’t deal with any of this, I don’t deal with Lindsey Graham calling for another war,” Owens said.“I’ll just say: This is what we do and this is what we don’t do.” She added: “So I tell them: Vote for me if the conditions are acceptable: that I will be a dictator of the United States, and that’s it.”

Candace Owens supports Tucker Carlson and discusses Charlie Kirkdeath

While ruling herself out of a presidential run, Owens made it clear that Tucker Carlson would have her support if he decided to enter politics.“In the short term, I have no interest in running for president, because there is too much unoriginality, and also too much disappointment with Trump,” Owens said. She then explained why she thought Carlson could be a strong candidate.“I would be interested in getting strong behind someone like Tucker Carlson.

Do you want? I would like. “So I would love for him to run, and I would create the dynamic that Charlie and I had and run everywhere to help him get elected,” Owens said.Owens also spoke about the late Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA who was murdered in September 2025. She paid tribute to Carlson and Megyn Kelly while discussing people she trusted following Kirk’s death.“I would also say that Megyn Kelly, telling the truth about Charlie eventually changing his views, not only increased my commitment,” Owens said.Speaking about Carlson, she added: “He’s also in a great place in his life. His kids are older. I would be grateful for the support of someone like Tucker Carlson.”However, Carlson has repeatedly downplayed talk of a presidential campaign. In a recent interview with The Economist, he said he was “of course not” interested in seeking the Republican nomination. He also told Piers Morgan that politics seems “disgusting” to him and that “coalition building” is not something he enjoys. However, the Polymarket prediction market recently put his chance of winning the 2028 Republican presidential nomination at nearly 10%, keeping his name in the conversation despite his public reluctance.
