Police said they arrested three men, including a British-Pakistani teenager, on Wednesday in connection with an arson attack on ambulances belonging to the Jewish community in Golders Green, north London.The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the suspects, aged 20, 19 and 17, were arrested at separate addresses in east London on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life. Two of them are British citizens, while the third holds dual British-Pakistani citizenship.The attack occurred in the early hours of March 23, in Golders Green, a neighborhood with a large Jewish community. Explosions caused by oxygen and gas bombs inside ambulances shattered nearby windows and forced some residents to evacuate.
The four ambulances targeted belonged to Hatzolah, a Jewish emergency service manned by volunteers.Earlier, two British men in their 40s were also arrested, but were later released on police bail. London counter-terrorism police are leading the investigation, although the incident is not currently being treated as an act of terrorism.Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack, calling it a “deeply shocking anti-Semitic arson attack” and stressed that “anti-Semitism has no place in our society.”Commander Helen Flanagan, head of London’s counter-terrorism police, said the authorities were working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice and reassure the local Jewish community.
