Indian-origin technology pioneer Sheetal (Sheetal) Razasian was shot dead by her husband at her home in Georgia.
A frightening scene occurred in Georgia’s Laurel Creek Trail neighborhood earlier this week when a 23-year-old man ran from neighbor to neighbor calling for help when his father shot him, and his mother was dead inside the home.
The woman who was killed was a technical leader of Indian origin, Sheetal (Sheetal) Rzesian, and she did not survive her injuries.The accident happened shortly before 8 p.m. According to the Cobb County Police Department, they took 56-year-old Kirk P. Rezin, the woman’s husband and 23-year-old father of Jason, from the crime scene without incident. Investigators confirmed that this was a domestic violence incident and there was no threat to the public.Kirk was charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was currently being held without bail at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.A neighbor said they saw the wounded son running from the house after being shot in the back and first tried to get help at a nearby house but was unable to enter. He then ran to a second neighbor’s house, where his owners let him in and helped stop the bleeding until first responders arrived.
The neighbor said the son arrived home shortly before 8 p.m. and found his parents fighting.

Sheetal Varzisian, a Georgia Tech alumna, was an engineering leader at Google with more than 20 years of experience in diverse technology roles, within organizations large and small.According to her biography on Georgia Tech’s website, Sheetal grew up in England, India, and Ghana (West Africa). I moved to the United States to obtain a degree in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology. Sheetal was a recognized inventor on two software patents, served on the Advisory Board of the Georgia Tech College of Computing and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association.
