US President Donald Trump’s announcement of the release of government files on “aliens” and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) did not go down well with a congressman from his party, who sought to remind that even with this new release, the Epstein files “are not going away.”

Thomas Massie, a Republican member of the House of Representatives, quoted the White House’s X (formerly Twitter) post about Trump’s Alien Files statement, writing: “They have deployed the ultimate weapon of mass distraction, but the Epstein Files will not go away… not even for aliens.”

Who is Thomas Massey?

Thomas Massie is a Republican politician who represents Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, which extends across northern Kentucky and 280 miles of the Ohio River, in the United States House of Representatives of the United States Congress.

He was elected to Congress in November 2012 and prior to that served as Lewis County Judge-Executive.

Massey studied engineering and received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering, respectively, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Thomas serves on two congressional committees: the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Judiciary Committee.

Massie’s latest indirect criticism of the US president is not the first time he has spoken out strongly against revelations in the Epstein files. In a recent interview with Politico, Massie said that despite releasing nearly three million pages worth of documents related to Epstein, he will continue efforts to get the Justice Department to rescind redactions in those documents.

Trump intends to publish government files on foreigners

In a post on Truth Social, US President Donald Trump said he had ordered officials in his administration to release US government files related to aliens, UAP, and UFOs. He said he made this decision based on the “tremendous interest shown.”

The US President said: “Based on the tremendous interest you have shown, I will direct the Secretary of War, and other relevant departments and agencies, to begin the process of identifying and disseminating government files related to extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)….”

This came after former President Barack Obama said that “aliens are real.” Trump initially criticized Obama, saying he had provided classified information, but then announced that he would reveal the files.

However, Obama later clarified that he made the statement in “the spirit of the quick round” of questions and that he had seen “no evidence” of this while he was president.
