A projectile landed near Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant on Saturday, killing a security personnel and damaging a nearby building, in the latest attack on the country’s only operational nuclear facility.Reuters, citing Tasnim News Agency, said that the projectile hit the vicinity of the factory, causing damage to a building near the site.
The report said that major facilities were not affected, and electricity production continued without interruption. This incident represents the fourth time that the Bushehr site has been targeted since the conflict began, as several projectiles were reported to have fallen on the surrounding area earlier this month. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that Iran informed it that a projectile had fallen near the factory buildings. In a post on X, the agency said a member of the site’s physical protection crew was killed by shell fragments, while the building suffered damage from shock waves and debris.
“No increase in radiation levels has been reported,” the International Atomic Energy Agency said. The Iranian authorities reiterated that the strike did not affect the basic infrastructure of the station, stressing that operations at the Bushehr facility were not affected despite repeated incidents in its vicinity.
