Mohanlal and Mammootty remember legendary singer S Janaki
The death of legendary playback singer S. Janaki dies at the age of 88. The Indian film industry and music lovers are in mourning. Her granddaughter, Apsara Vidiola, shared the news of her death on her social media account.
Shortly after the announcement, tributes began pouring in from across the entertainment industry.
Mammootty and Mohanlal Pay their respect
Mammootty extended his condolences in a short but touching message on Facebook. “Rest in peace,” the actor wrote.Mohanlal shared a detailed tribute discussing S. Janaki’s extraordinary musical journey. His post translated into English read: “The Indian nightingale, Janakyamma, has left us. She was an ocean of affection who bestowed countless unforgettable songs across Malayalam, Hindi and many other languages and enriched an entire era of Indian music.” The ‘Drishyam’ star added, “She is a truly blessed singer. She has filled the hearts of Malayalees with timeless melodies that continue to resonate across generations. I will always be indebted to Janakyamma because she was the voice behind the songs of my first film ‘Manjil Virenga Pookkal’. Through her sweet and soulful voice, she gave life to every human emotion – joy, sadness, innocence and everything in between. Even after my first film, I was lucky.” To be a part of many memorable song sequences for which she lent her voice.

The voice that became part of Mohanlal’s cinematic journey
Mohanlal’s association with S. Janaki goes back to his acting debut in Manjil Virinja Pookkal (1980). Among the most popular songs from the 1980 version are “Mizhiyoram” and “Manjani Kombil”. Some of his other collaborations include songs in the films ‘Ninnishtam Ennishtam’ and ‘Kattathe Kilikkoodu’.
