The internet personality, whose real name is Ramzi Khaled Ismail, was sentenced to six months in prison in Seoul, South Korea, following a widely condemned stunt involving a statue honoring victims of wartime sexual slavery. Johnny was sentenced in April 2026 to six months behind bars. Additionally, he was sentenced to an additional 20 days in jail and will be banned from working with children and people with disabilities for five years, according to NBC News.

“The defendant repeatedly committed crimes against unspecified members of the public for profit through YouTube and distributed content in disregard of Korean law,” the court said regarding Johnny.

Johnny stood in court and asked for leniency, as prosecutors were seeking a three-year prison sentence.

“I have family back home and I miss them terribly,” Johnny told the court. Korea Herald. He added: “I made a huge mistake and I accept that I have to take responsibility, but I am still young and I hope I get the chance to start over.”
