Speaking to Fully Filmy, Vignesh Raja explained that Chaitra J Achar was approached early in the casting process. “We have already finalized Chaitra J Achar in mind for this character,” he said. The team felt that it perfectly suited the rural and emotional tone of the role. She even completed a look test, and everything seemed to be moving forward smoothly at that point in the project.

The ‘Kara’ director shares the honest reason behind the decision

But things changed when Chitra informed the team about another film.

“She had told us that she would be seen in a very similar look in My Lord before the release of our film,” said Vignesh Raja. Since this film was expected to be released early, the makers felt that the freshness of the character might be affected. Due to this timing issue, the team decided to rethink the casting for the role.

After Chaitra J Achar stepped down, the team approached Mamitha Baiju for the role. Vignesh Raja admitted that he had doubts at first, saying, “I thought she might not accept such a character.”

But she surprised the team by immediately agreeing to the role. The director praised her for breaking her usual image and taking on a more stable character. He added that her performance added freshness and strength to the film.A strong and supportive cast, music composition by GV Prakash Kumar, and rising expectations have contributed to the high level of interest in ‘Kara’, one of the most awaited releases.
