Legendary saxophonist Sonny Rollins has died. He was known as one of the leading names in the jazz genre and was known for creating some of the biggest hits in his prime.
He was 95 years old at the time of his death.

The Associated Press reported that Rollins died peacefully at his home in Woodstock, New York. The famous musician has been dealing with a lot of issues related to his health. According to the report, he has been “homebound” for the past few years, staying home mostly due to his health.Known as one of the last living legends of the bebop era of jazz, Rollins has been credited with working on and creating songs such as “Airegin,” “Doxy,” and “Oleo,” to name a few.

Rollins was known for constantly experimenting with his sounds, choosing eclectic genres and mixing them with jazz. In 1957, he released the album Way Out West, a hit with his personal style of cowboy and country music.On the other hand, even rock fans got a taste of his talent when he worked with the Rolling Stones on their 1981 album “Tattoo You.” He had a saxophone solo on their song “Waiting on a Friend” from the album.
Over the years, on multiple occasions, Rollins has stated that he was not completely satisfied with what he did in life and wanted to learn more about music. In an old interview with the Associated Press in 2007, the famous musician said, “I don’t consider myself a musician who learns as much as I want to learn.” Rollins started his journey at a young age and was active into adulthood before retiring.He stopped playing music in the late 2000s after being diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. In 2012, he held his last official concert, and retired from the music scene permanently in 2014.Rollins’ death was met with great shock as he was one of the greatest music pioneers of his time. He left behind his legacy in all the music he worked on throughout the duration of his career.
