The Supreme Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that Tuesday, June 16, is the first day of the month of Muharram 1448 AH and the beginning of the new Hijri year.This announcement came after the sighting of the crescent of the holy month of Muharram on Monday evening.The UAE also confirmed that Tuesday is the first day of the holy month of Muharram and the beginning of the Hijri year 1448 AH. The UAE Fatwa Council said that it reached this decision after reviewing scientific data related to the sighting of the crescent moon, in coordination with specialized scientific authorities and centers throughout the country.With the beginning of the month of Muharram, Ashura Day, which falls on the tenth day of the month, is expected to fall on Thursday, June 25.The Hijri New Year marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar, which is used to mark important religious dates and celebrations throughout the year.This occasion commemorates the Hijra, the migration of the Prophet Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace) from Mecca to Medina, an event considered a defining moment in Islamic history and the starting point of the Islamic calendar.In its statement, the Saudi Supreme Court also prayed for the continued success of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and for unity and solidarity among Muslims around the world.(This is one of the top Google Trends topics.)
