The Bihar Police on Monday said they busted a “cheating racket” in Lakhesarai during the retake of the National Eligibility with Undergraduate Entrance Test or NEET-UG on Sunday by arresting 30 people, including medical students and employees of a biometrics company involved in the examination process.
According to Lakhesarai Superintendent of Police Prerna, they raided the examination centers of three schools and arrested all the accused and recovered their mobile phones and other documents from them.

She added that 30 people, including nine impersonators, a candidate, two assistants, and 18 biometric employees.
Sub-divisional police officer Shivam Kumar said the preliminary investigation revealed that the racket involved a large amount of… $10 l $12 thousand and an advance amount $1- $2 lakh have already been made. Kumar said the balance will be paid after the students pass the exam.

Among those arrested, the police identified the accused as MBBS, BAMS and nursing students studying in colleges in Bihar, Delhi and Odisha. Three separate FIRs have been registered under Sections 318(4) [cheating]338 [forgery]336(3) [intent to cheat]340(2) [utilising fake documents]61 (2) [criminal conspiracy]3(5) [common intention] The police added that from the BNS and 10(1)/10(2)/11 Public Examinations Act 2024.
One of the arrested impersonators, Mayank Kashyap, a resident of Hajipur and a fourth-year student of Patna Medical College and Hospital, entered the Hasanpur examination center in connivance with an employee of the biometrics company, Ankit Kumar, police said. Likewise, nine people were allegedly re-taking the NEET exam on behalf of the candidates.
More than two million medical students have appeared for re-examination across 5,454 centers in India and abroad amid extensive security arrangements.
The re-examination was scheduled after NEET was canceled on May 12 as central agencies found that the question paper had been hacked.
This was the second time in two years that NEET-UG came under scrutiny.
