Australian police confirmed on Wednesday that pop star Katy Perry is being investigated in Australia over Ruby Rose’s allegations of sexual assault.“Melbourne Sex Offenses Detectives and the Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) are investigating an (alleged) historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,” Victoria Police said in a statement to AFP.
Police were told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. “As the investigation is still ongoing, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this stage.”

TMZ has since posted a photo and video believed to be from the night of the alleged assault, 16 years ago. According to the report, Katie was all smiles on August 15, 2010, when she crashed a high school prom at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne. While there, the singer reportedly grabbed a microphone and performed some songs live for the audience.
While Ruby was allegedly with her at the time, she did not appear in the photos.After prom, the two headed to Melbourne nightclub Spice Market, the same place where Ruby claims things took a dark turn. “Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at a nightclub in the Spice Market in Melbourne,” Rose said in a social media post.

In an unverified social media post, someone shared a photo with Perry, believed to be from the same night.
The post read: “I think @rubyrose. When Katy Perry arrived at my kinky (Grouse) party in 2010, I took a photo with her. I was a little surprised when she put her hand on the top of my public cheekbones during the photo. Later, a friend came over and complained about being touched…I was told, guess who Ruby Rose, she was out, sick and never came in.”

The edit post also contains a news snippet from the day featuring the singer in the same outfit and hairstyle. Katy Perry denies sexual assault allegations
A representative for Katy Perry denied the claim in a statement, saying: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous and reckless lies.
Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, allegations that have been repeatedly denied by those named.
Ruby Rose files a police report
Although Rose previously said she was not interested in going the legal route, she later confirmed that she had contacted the police. Ruby has since said she cannot speak further about the case. “As of this afternoon, I have concluded all of my reporting. This means that I am no longer able to comment, report, or speak publicly about any of these cases or individuals involved,” she wrote.
