Karisma Kapoor's children get interim relief in Rs 30,000 crore royal battle, court stops Priya Kapoor from dissipating Sanjay Kapoor's assets

After the death of Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, Sanjay Kapoor, their children Samira and Kiaan filed a lawsuit against his widowed wife Priya Sachdev. They claimed that Priya had forged Sanjay’s will.

His mother Rani Kapoor is also facing a legal case against Priya.

As per the latest update, the Delhi High Court on Thursday granted interim relief to Karisma Kapoor’s children, restraining their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapoor from creating any third-party rights over late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor’s property. For those who do not know, Priya Kapoor, who married Sanjay after his divorce from Karishma, is his widow after his death in 2025.According to Bar & Bench, after hearing the matter, Justice Jyoti Singh observed that questions had been raised regarding the validity of the will allegedly left behind by Sanjay. She noted that both Karisma Kapoor and Sanjay’s mother, Rani Kapoor, have expressed doubts, putting the onus on Priya Kapoor to address these concerns. Since the validity of the will will be examined during the court proceedings, the court stressed the need to preserve the estate in the meantime.

“Assets should not be dissipated. Assets should be preserved,” the court said, as per the court order, adding that a prima facie case had been made to justify the interim protection. As part of its order, the court restrained Priya Kapoor from disposing of, transferring, pledging or changing the shareholding structure of Sunjay’s Indian companies. Justice Singh also said: “I restrained her from withdrawing the provident fund amount, to which she had agreed.

“I also refrained from turning away personal property, artwork, etc., which was also approved.”The court also imposed restrictions on withdrawals from some bank accounts. “She refrained from withdrawing, saving and accepting the money from three bank accounts of the two Indian banks to the extent of fulfilling the obligations towards the children, subject to the degree of divorce between the deceased and the mother of the children,” Justice Singh added. Moreover, Sanjay Kapoor’s foreign bank accounts and cryptocurrency holdings have been suspended. However, the court clarified that this restriction does not extend to any immovable assets owned abroad. The dispute arises from allegations made by Karisma Kapoor’s children, who claim that Priya Kapoor, Sanjay’s third wife, forged the will in a bid to secure full control of his estate. Karishma and Sonjay were married from 2003 to 2016 and have two children together. The children, represented by their mother, approached the court asserting that they had been unfairly excluded from their father’s estate following his sudden death in June 2025 in the United Kingdom. The legal proceedings identify Priya Kapoor, her minor son Rani Kapoor, and the executor of the will, Shraddha Suri Marwah, as defendants. At the heart of the case is a will dated March 21, 2025, which will allegedly bequeath Sanjay Kapoor’s entire personal property to Priya Kapoor. The children also alleged that their stepmother, along with two of her accomplices, Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, deliberately withheld the will for more than seven weeks, and only submitted it during a family meeting on July 30, 2025.
