'Jana Nayagan' pre-sale box office collection: CM Vijay film crosses Rs 16 crore in India, trails 'Leo' and 'GOAT'

One of the biggest Tamil releases of the year is coming up. With less than two days to go until ‘Jana Nayagan’ hits theatres, excitement is building for Vijay’s much-awaited political action drama. This is Vijay’s last film when he entered politics.

Directed by H Vinoth, this film is a landmark release for his fans. Excitement is building, with advance ticket sales growing impressively in key markets, setting the stage for the box office opening.

The recordings of ‘Jana Nayagan’ have finished. Rs 16 crore On first day bookings

As per trade estimates from Sacnilk, ‘Jana Nayagan’ has already bagged over Rs 16 crore in first day bookings across India, including blocked seats. As of Tuesday morning, the film’s domestic pre-sales stood at Rs 16.33 crore, largely driven by its Tamil version.

The Tamil version alone grossed Rs 11.30 crore from over 417,000 tickets sold in 5,091 shows. Tamil Nadu emerged as the largest market with advance sales of Rs 6.74 lakh, followed by Karnataka (Rs 4.88 lakh) and Kerala (Rs 1.80 lakh).

The Telugu and Hindi versions have also started recording bookings, though their contribution is still comparatively smaller.

‘Jana Nayagan’ trails ‘Leo’ and ‘GOAT’ in advance bookings

‘Jana Nayagan’ has created a lot of buzz, but the advance booking numbers are not at par with Vijay’s previous blockbusters yet.

‘Leo’ sold pre-sale tickets worth around Rs 46.36 crore while ‘The Greatest of All Time’ (GOAT) grossed Rs 29.83 crore in domestic advance bookings before the first day. Unlike those films, ‘Jana Nayagan’ had a gradual booking trend rather than immediate sale. However, trade experts believe that the film still has enough time to witness a surge in last-minute bookings.

Current expectations are for it to collect Rs 50-60 crore in India on the opening day, though the final number may rise depending on the audience response over the next couple of days.

Vijay’s latest film is gearing up for one of the biggest openings of the year

‘Jana Nayagan’ features Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain and Nassar in important roles. The film, directed by H. Vinoth with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, has become one of the most talked about Tamil releases of 2026. As fans gear up to celebrate Vijay’s latest outing on the big screen, all eyes are now on whether ‘Jana Nayagan’ can turn its strong pre-sales into a record opening and emerge as one of the biggest box office launches in Tamil cinema.
