New Delhi: Zimbabwean player Blessing Muzarabane has found himself in the middle of a growing controversy and his agency has strongly refuted the Pakistan Super League’s decision to ban him for two years. The fast bowler, who is currently representing Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026, has been penalized for opting out of a PSL deal to seize an IPL opportunity. However, his representatives have now issued a stern clarification, insisting that no official contract was ever signed, making the ban unjustified.Mezarabani was initially lined up as a replacement signing in the PSL, reportedly in a deal worth PKR 11 million, before opting to join KKR as a replacement for

. This move sparked disciplinary action from the Pakistan League, led by Mohsin Naqvi, under the pretext of breach of commitment. But the player’s agency, World Sports Xchange, responded strongly, arguing that the basis for the penalty was flawed.

“No contract, no breach”: Mezarabani agency calls the ban excessive
The agency explained in a detailed statement that while Islamabad United approached Muzarabani, the agreement remained conditional and was dependent on obtaining a no-objection certificate from the Zimbabwe Cricket Club.
Crucially, they point out that such a national oil certificate would require a valid and signed contract, something that was never provided. “You cannot simply breach a contract you never received,” the statement read, directly challenging the PSL’s position. The agency also revealed that when KKR approached Muzarabani on February 27, there were no binding commitments preventing him from accepting the IPL offer. They called the ban “incredibly excessive” and inconsistent with previous cases involving actual contractual breaches.
They described this as an administrative error, and urged the Premier League to “safely withdraw the ban” and correct what they described as an error on the part of the league.
Amidst the storm off the field, Mezarabani began to make his mark on the pitch. After being rendered wicketless on debut, he bounced back impressively with four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad, underscoring his importance to KKR despite limited opportunities so far.
