Orville Patel said he kept his approach very simple during the stunning strike against Lucknow Super Giants, revealing that clear instructions from coaches and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad helped him produce one of the greatest displays of power in the history of the Indian Premier League. The CSK batsman smashed a sensational 65 off just 23 balls as Chennai Super Kings chased down 204 in Chepauk, including a 13-ball knock and a stunning fifty that equaled the fastest half-century ever recorded in the IPL. His innings featured eight sixes and two boundaries at a staggering strike rate of 282.61 as Chennai registered a five-wicket win and climbed to fifth place in the points table. Despite the chaos he made with the bat, Orville insisted there was no complicated plan behind the innings. “There was nothing in my mind, but I just wanted to bat according to the situation and the ball,” Orville said after the match. The youngster explained that the coaching staff only had one clear instruction for him before he went out to bat. “The coach just told me to keep a steady base and then I hit, and I did the same thing,” he revealed. Orville also credited skipper Gaikwad for helping him prepare for the conditions at Chibok, where the pitch started to stay a little lower during the chase.

“Ruto said the wicket was down and to be ready for it. He didn’t tell me much, he just let me play my game,” Orville added. Once Sanju Samson went down after a torrid start, Orville completely changed the momentum of the competition. Fire

His explosive innings saw CSK reach 97/1 in the powerplay, the highest powerplay score ever recorded at Chepauk, surpassing the 91 scored by LSG themselves earlier in the evening. Although LSG fought back in the middle through Shahbaz Ahmed and Digvesh Rathi, Chennai eventually completed the chase with four balls remaining after Shivam Dubey smashed successive sixes in the final over.
