KOLKATA: Kolkata Knight Riders’ season is going from bad to worse and the knives are sure to be out. As they reach the halfway stage of the Indian Premier League without a win, Sunday’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Eden here could offer them a chance to embark on the path to redemption. They may be asking too much, although with only one point in their bag, they have a daunting task ahead of them. Winning all eight remaining games, especially with their morale low and their campaign directionless, is not something the bookmakers will bet on. There seemed to be many faults in the way KKR went about their mission and they stopped short of skipper Ajinkya Rahane.

The veteran has not been very inspiring as a captain and some on-field decisions have also come under scrutiny.
Jug-gling Cameron Green’s batting situation is very confusing. The Australian came in at Nos. 3 and 6, before firing on No. 4. With his brilliant 79 against the Gujarat Titans, Green put an expensive monkey off his back. However, the all-rounder did not attack the Giants, despite sending in two overs against both LSG and CSK.Sunday’s game is about teams on both ends of the spectrum. Even with KKR languishing at the bottom, the Royals were escaping with all the glory until they hit a hurdle against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last match.Incidentally, while KKR was on the road for a week, RR had three good days of training here.
