Hockey: Manpreet Singh equals Dilip Tirkey's record of 412 ODIs but India loses 2-3 to Netherlands in PSL

Manpreet Singh equaled former India captain Dilip Tirkey’s record of 412 ODIs on Sunday, but the feat came in a 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands in the IIHF Men’s Pro League.The experienced midfielder reached the milestone during India’s match against the hosts, becoming the second Indian men’s hockey player to play 412 international matches. He is also the only active player to have played more than 400 international matches.The Netherlands took an early lead through Miles Bukins in the third minute. India responded six minutes later when Dilpreet Singh scored to make it 1-1.Queen Beijing restored the lead for the Netherlands in the 23rd minute, but India responded again, and Sukheet Singh scored in the 33rd minute to level the score.

However, Temjen Rienga scored in the 40th minute to put the Netherlands ahead for the third time, and India were unable to find an equaliser again.The defeat spoiled what was considered a historic day for Manpreet, who now shares the Indian record for most caps with Dilip Tirkey.
