A 30-year-old woman was beaten to death by her in-laws while she was plucking the lady’s finger from a field in Nahata area of Bihar’s Rohtas district on Tuesday evening, police said.

The police have registered a murder case against eight people, including the uncle of the deceased’s wife, Shambhu Vishwakarma, and his two sons.
Police on Wednesday arrested Vishwakarma from a hideout in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district. Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar said that raids are currently underway to arrest the remaining accused.
A police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the deceased, Savita Devi, was living in the village with her two minor children while her husband, Arvind Vishwakarma, was working outside the state.
He added that the woman was in a relationship with an official in the Electricity Department who visited her often. The in-laws opposed their meetings and this often led to quarrels between them.
Meanwhile, a team from the Electricity Department raided Shambhu’s house after which a case of electricity theft was registered against him. The family accused Savita Devi of filing the case against Shambu with the help of the officer, who was her acquaintance, the police officer said.
The deceased had gone to pick the lady’s fingers from the fields on Tuesday evening when Shambhu and his family members attacked her with sticks. She died instantly.
But the SP said the police are investigating the case from all possible angles.
