The central government, in an order issued on Thursday, reduced the special surcharge on diesel and petrol to $1.5 billion $3 per liter and zero respectively.

The central government’s notification to reduce customs duties comes amid supply disruptions due to the ongoing war between the United States and Iran, which has pushed global crude oil prices above $100.

Disturbances in key supply routes such as the Strait of Hormuz have exacerbated the situation.
