The family of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, who was murdered by his fiancée Sia Goyal and her lover Chetan Chaudhary, held a candlelight march on Saturday to demand justice, with the victim’s grandfather breaking down as he accused those close to the family of betrayal.

He claimed that he was “betrayed by us” and sought death penalty for Siya and Chetan for allegedly killing Ketan.

According to the news agency PTIKetan’s grandfather Devichand Agarwal also believes that Sia was pressured by her family to marry Ketan. The couple was scheduled to get married in a grand wedding ceremony in Udaipur in a few months.

Ketan’s family members led a march organized at Belmondo Society in Gahungi on the outskirts of Pune where Ketan lives. His friends and other residents also attended, according to A PTI a report.

The rally came even as Siya Goyal’s parents and brother were questioned by Pune Rural Police for more than 10 hours as part of the investigation into the alleged murder.

“We have been betrayed by our own people, whom we have known for many years,” said Devichand Agarwal of the housing society, where a large number of people gathered to participate in the candlelight procession.

“We want the police to investigate everyone responsible for this wedding. These two accused, Siya and Chetan, should be given the death penalty,” he said, breaking down.

He said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the family of a speedy investigation and justice. The victim’s mother also demanded justice, demanding the death penalty for the accused duo, as well as action against Siya Goyal’s family members.

Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, said the family wants nothing but justice. He added: “We will continue the struggle until we achieve justice for our son.”

The father said that many people were present at Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident and appealed to them to come forward.

“Some people are sending us messages saying that they were present at the fort, but they are not approaching the police. I urge them all to come forward and help us get justice for Ketan. I assure them that they will not face any problems,” he added.

The father thanked the Prime Minister for accepting their demand for a speedy trial and appointing Ujjwal Nikam as public prosecutor.

Sia, 20, and her lover, Chetan Chaudhary, 22, were accused of pushing Ketan, 25, off a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka in Pune district on June 18.

According to police, Siya and Ketan were scheduled to get married in November, but she did not want to go ahead with the wedding, prompting her and Chetan to hatch a plot to kill him.
