Ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)’s planned protest in Delhi, a question was put to the government about the arrival of party founder Abhijit Debaki in India. During a press conference on Friday, State Department spokesman Randhir Jaiswal was asked whether US authorities had been informed of Debke’s “deportation or misuse of his visa.”

The question came amid speculation about Debki returning to India to attend a major CJP rally at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar near Parliament Street police station today. Jaiswal was asked at the press conference, “Indian citizen Abhijit Debaki is returning from America. Has the American government provided any information about his deportation or any misuse of his visa?”

In response, Middle East Airlines said that it had no information in this regard.

During the same press conference, the government reportedly said that as many as 1,076 Indian nationals have been deported from the US in 2026 so far, and the total number was 3,567 last year.

“Discussions on migration and mobility are ongoing between the two sides. The focus is on how to eliminate and reduce illegal migration, while at the same time ensuring that it does not negatively impact legal migration,” Jaiswal said.

In an interview last month, Abhijit Debaki said he feared he would be arrested once he arrived in Delhi from the US. “I feel that as soon as I reach Delhi airport, a Delhi Police convoy will take me to Tihar Jail,” Debki said.

Meanwhile, his family has also moved from their home from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra to an undisclosed location, as reported by HT earlier. However, his father explained that they did not receive any threats.

Huge CJP protest in Delhi today

The Cockroach Janta Party, which started with a satirical outfit and quickly became a social media sensation a few weeks ago, is gearing up to hold its first large-scale rally in Delhi on Friday.

Abhijit Debaki announced the demonstration recently and urged students, their parents and youth across the country to join him in large numbers. The protest was called to demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following multiple controversies over examinations in India, including leakage of NEET-UG papers and reported discrepancies with CBSE’s On Screen-Marking system for evaluating Class 12 board exams.

According to Delhi Police, permission has not been obtained for the protest yet, but as mentioned in an earlier HT report, Abhijit Debaki intends to seek permission from the police before the demonstration begins at 9 am.

A day before the major protest, CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Varun Das issued a message calling for a peaceful demonstration filled with “love and harmony”. Tomorrow, we will reset the education system in this country. Tomorrow, we will ensure that our voices can no longer be ignored. “Tomorrow, we will reclaim our democracy and reclaim this beautiful nation,” the statement read.

Who is Abhijeet Deepaki?

The 30-year-old CJP founder hails from Maharashtra and completed his undergraduate studies in journalism in Pune. He recently graduated from Boston University with a two-year master’s degree in public relations.

He floated the CJP after an uproar over Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remarks, in which he likened some unemployed youth to “cockroaches” and “parasites”. The satirical outfit quickly gained massive support online, and the party’s Instagram followers even surpassed those of the BJP.

In a post on Friday, DeBakey said he had left the United States and expressed confidence in the country’s constitution.
