The minister and the education department are facing criticism over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak issue and alleged irregularities in CBSE’s on-screen marking (OSM) system, which was used to evaluate and re-evaluate Class 12 board exams.
The CJP had earlier said that Abhijit Debke would seek police permission before leading the protest at Jantar Mantar.
“We will seek cooperation from the police and seek permission. Whatever operations are required within legal limits, we will follow them,” CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Varun Das said in a video posted on social media.
Sonam Wangchuk to join
The 59-year-old activist from Ladakh, who was detained for six months after his arrest in September during deadly protests demanding autonomy for the region, had earlier announced that he would join the protest.
“If not us, who? If not now, then when? I will join the CPM in Delhi on June 6 if nothing changes by June 5. Any self-respecting minister should resign if things go wrong… not to mention affecting the lives of millions of young people and indeed the future of India,” he had earlier said in a post on X.
In a video posted on the social media platform, he demanded Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, saying his concerns went beyond the NEET paper leak and the controversy surrounding the CBSE assessment process.
“Your reasons are NEET and CBSE exams, but for me, it is a bigger problem. For the past four decades, I have tried to improve education in government schools in remote areas. When I don’t see any change, I get disappointed and feel the need to do something,” he said.
The rise of the CJP
The outfit was initially formed as a satirical response to remarks made by Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, during a court hearing last month, when some individuals were referred to as “cockroaches” and “parasites”. Since then, it has evolved into an organized campaign and has achieved a large following online.
Its popularity grew rapidly, driven by the slogan “a political front for the youth, for the youth, for the youth.”
The party’s Instagram account has crossed 22 million followers, more than double the BJP’s 9 million followers on the platform, and more than the Congress party’s 13 million followers.
Prior to the protest, the organization announced three spokespersons as part of its efforts to expand its reach.
In a post on X, the group founded by Abhijit Debaki said investigative journalist Sourav Das will be its chief spokesperson. Political scientist and filmmaker Vijita Dahiya, along with former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka, represented the organization before the public and the media.
