Tamil Nadu Minister and TVK President C Joseph Vijay met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. This is the first official meeting between the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and the Prime Minister since the formation of the new government in the state.
“Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru @actorvijay met with Prime Minister @Narendramodi today,” the Prime Minister’s Office posted on the ‘X’ website.
Sources told HT that the meeting lasted about 30 minutes.
During his visit, Vijay also visited the Tamil Nadu House in Delhi, where he was given a guard of honour.
Sources said the Prime Minister is expected to meet Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during his trip, according to ANI.
He is also scheduled to meet senior Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, on 10 Janpath, the report said. Posters showing Rahul Gandhi and Vijay were seen outside the headquarters.
This marks Vijay’s first official visit to the national capital since getting a vote of confidence on May 13 with the support of Congress legislators, CPI(M), VCK and IUML.
