A CBSE Vedant student’s post about the alleged mix-up in the answer sheet has sparked interest online, and his brother Siddhant Srivastava said on Tuesday that the board reached out to the family and sent the correct answer sheet.
Speaking to ANI, Srivastava revealed that his brother’s marks have been increased, but they will apply for re-evaluation as there are some irregularities according to them.
“The problem was that his answer sheet was exchanged with someone else’s answer sheet and the marks we received were based on someone else’s answer sheet. We emailed the complaint to CBSE, produced a video and also gave an interview to a news channel and tweeted as well,” he said.
Stating that public interest led to correction by CBSE, he said, “When this issue received significant public interest, CBSE reached out to us and sent us the correct answer sheet.”
“In that, Vedant’s marks were 65 earlier, and now it is 74. We will put it further for re-evaluation because we saw that in some places where he should have got marks, zero marks were given in some questions, even though he wrote the complete answer. So we will go for re-evaluation for that,” he explained.
In light of this plight, Siddhant urged structural reforms to ensure ordinary students are able to resolve assessment errors without the need for widespread social media campaigns.
“We want to create an official portal for other kids too, where they can directly tell CBSE about such issues, and they don’t have to face public support and all this trolling like us to tell their real problem.”
This comes after the affected student Vedant Srivastava made an X-shaped post showcasing the alleged exchange of his original physics answer sheet with another student’s answer sheet, sparking an online controversy over the issue.
