Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala also arrived in Delhi, where Kerala leaders are scheduled to meet members of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

VD Satheesan, who served as Leader of the Opposition in the House run by the outgoing LDF government, is one of the front-runners for the Keralam CM post after the UDF won 102 seats in the elections.

Congress leader KP Naushad said major developments are expected in Delhi amid consultations within the party leadership.

“There have been a lot of political developments and movements so far. Some actions are still underway in Kerala. Major steps will be taken in Delhi and a decision may be taken soon. V D Sathisean’s contribution has been significant as Leader of the Opposition and President of the United Democratic Front, which naturally made him the front runner in the opposition camp,” he said.

Kerala Congress president Sunny Joseph also indicated that the party high command will make an announcement after completion of internal democratic processes.

“The high command will make an announcement. There are democratic processes within the party that will be implemented,” he said.

Earlier, after the Congress-led United Democratic Front’s victory in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, the debate over the next chief minister intensified, with a large number of party workers marching from the Palayam Martyrs’ Memorial on Thursday in support of V D Sathisean.

Meanwhile, posters of Congress general secretary KC Venugopal were also put up along Trivandrum Road on Tuesday as celebrations continued after the United Democratic Front’s landslide election victory, adding to speculation about the chief ministerial race.

Apart from Sathisan, KC Venugopal and Ramesh Chennithala are also the main contenders for the top slot.

AICC Comptroller Mukul Wasnik said all party MLAs passed a resolution authorizing the Congress high command to decide the leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) during a meeting held after the Assembly election results.
