Saha also said that his government has adopted a long-term vision, ‘Lakshya 2047’, in line with the national goal ‘Fixit Bharat’, to ensure an inclusive, prosperous and healthy future for the north-eastern state.

Speaking at a meeting of the governing body of NITI Aayog, the Centre’s premier policy think tank, the Prime Minister on Thursday said Tripura has doubled the state’s GDP in the last six years and emerged as India’s third fully literate state.

“The country has attracted investment proposals worth more than $30,000 crore last year, with projects overrun $8,000 crore has already been stopped,” Saha said.

He said major companies, including Bharti Airtel, are setting up strategic facilities like the data center in Agartala to serve eastern India.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the state’s efforts to empower women and youth.

“Around 4.96 lakh rural women are actively involved in 55,676 SHGs. The ‘Samriddhi’ campaign has accelerated the flow of credit to SHGs and women-led enterprises, while efforts are on to integrate SHG-based micro enterprises into the formal MSME ecosystem,” Saha said.

He said the state has also achieved complete digitization and paperless performance across administrative work, from the Cabinet level to Gram Panchayats.

“The country has adopted a long-term vision, ‘Lakshya 2047’, in line with the national goal of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, which ensures an inclusive, safe, prosperous and healthy future for all citizens,” he said.

Medical education has also witnessed remarkable growth, with the number of MBBS seats increasing from 225 to 550 and postgraduate seats from 85 to 196 in the past few years, Saha said.

He said that significant progress had also been made in tourism, with the development of the Mata Tripura Sundari Tourist Circuit and the Buddhist Circuit.
