Flex hoardings, party banners and garlands at Trinamool Congress offices across West Bengal were defaced and damaged following the BJP’s landslide victory in the Assembly elections on Monday, officials said on Monday, even as the saffron party denied any role in the incidents.

The TMC claimed that hours after the survey directions became clear, “miscreants” gathered outside its offices in Baruipur in South 24 Parganas, Tuvanganj in Cooch Behar, and Panihati in North 24 Parganas and vandalized them.
In Baruipur, flex hoardings and banners were torn down, and photographs of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and party chief Mamata Banerjee were thrown on the ground, a local TMC leader alleged.
A police officer said that forces were deployed in the area and the crowd outside the party office was dispersed.

Another senior police officer said that in Jamoria in Paschim Bardhaman district, unidentified persons allegedly set fire to a local office of the TMC party.
In Asansol, the TMC office was vandalized, with the party leader claiming that BJP supporters were behind the incident.
There were images of a mob, flaunting BJP flags, vandalizing a club at Ruby More in the Kasbah area.

“We have opened a case against unknown persons and a manhunt is underway,” a senior police officer said.
But the BJP denied the involvement of any of its supporters.
However, BJP leader and Noapara candidate Arjun Singh denied the allegations and said that the incidents were a result of internal disputes within the TMC.
