The family of a domestic worker who was killed after she was run over by a Mahindra Thar car in a residential society in Gurugram has claimed that the woman driving the SUV brought the victim’s body back to the spot after doctors declared her brought dead in the hospital.

Police have not yet confirmed this claim and are investigating the death.

The incident took place between 2 pm and 2.20 pm on Tuesday at Ansal Virsalia Society in Sector 67. The victim, Jodi Devi, a resident of Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly resting in the basement parking area when the SUV ran over her when the resident tried to park the car.

According to police, the driver, who lives on the fourth floor of the same building, had just returned from work when the accident occurred.

A senior police officer said: “The woman panicked and raised an alarm. She reversed her car and alerted the neighbors for help.” The police have not yet revealed the age of the driver. HT reported earlier.

The driver then got out of the SUV and took Jodi Devi to a private hospital in Sector 68 in another car, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The victim’s family claimed that after doctors declared Jodi Devi dead, the driver returned with her body to the same place where the accident occurred, the news agency reported. PTI. However, HT was unable to independently confirm this claim, until filing this report.

Gurugram Police said that the preliminary investigation concluded that the victim ran over the victim’s chest. The investigating officer said: “She ended up suffering multiple fractures and internal injuries, which led to her death, according to doctors.”

Police have captured Thar and are examining CCTV footage to determine the sequence of events and verify the family’s allegations.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Wednesday.

An FIR has been registered against the woman driver under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 65 police station.
