The Patna district judge has agreed to stay the arrest of teacher Faisal Khan, alias Khan Sir, in the case registered against him on charges of organizing an eviction from his coaching institute in the Bihar capital on June 2.
Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma on Friday said that the name of the teacher and YouTuber has been mentioned in the FIR in connection with the vandalism case at the Khan Institute of Global Studies.
Police arrested two training center guards on charges of shooting on Tuesday night when a group of 15 to 20 people tore down the training center’s poster and threw stones at its headquarters.
What did the lawyer say?
Arvind Kumar Mahawar, the lawyer representing Khan Sir, claimed that an FIR was registered against his client “as part of a conspiracy to defame him”.
“Khan Sir’s name has been mentioned in the FIR as part of a retaliatory action because his employees have registered a case against the director of another training centre. He will not surrender and file an anticipatory bail application before the court,” the lawyer said.
He claimed that there were no actual charges against his client.
The lawyer said: “Based on the videos and photos of the incident, it is clear that the guards fired shots into the air for safety reasons. No one was injured. His name was included in the disclosure statement for his involvement.”
Flight information area
On June 2, shots were fired outside Khan Sir’s training institute near Musallahpur Hat in Patna, and the building was allegedly vandalized, resulting in the injury of a security guard.
On June 3, a large crowd of students gathered outside the institute, leading to a massive deployment of security forces in the area. Large numbers of aspirants were seen waiting outside the training center and raising protest slogans as tensions rose in the wake of the incident.
Soon after the vandalism incident, Khan claimed that people from a rival training institute were behind the shooting, although he later said that only a police investigation could confirm whether the shooting actually happened.
Members of a rival training institute held a press conference on Thursday, claiming that Khan himself had orchestrated the incident.
Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station under Section 109 of the BNS and Sections 25(9), 27 and 35 of the Arms Act against three individuals, including Khan Sir.
The FIR stems from a video showing two guards allegedly opening fire, who were later arrested.
