AAP organizer Arvind Kejriwal has once again found himself in a controversy over his residence. This time it’s about a new Type VII bungalow in Delhi’s Lodhi Park, and a sign that has long been associated with it: the “Sheesh Mahal” (“Glass Palace”).

The BJP on Saturday slammed Kejriwal for living “lavishly” at his new allotted home in Lodhi Estate, dubbing it “Sheesh Mahal 2”, referring to it as a continuation of the accusations leveled over renovations at the Prime Minister’s official residence when Kejriwal was Delhi Chief Minister.

While AAP denied the allegations and questioned the authenticity of some of the photos shared by the BJP, it was Delhi Public Works Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma who took the lead in the attack.

He showed some pictures and claimed that these were of the seventh type bungalow given to Kejriwal in his capacity as party president. Verma said that the Central Public Works Department does not spend such money on shacks and claimed that “private funds” were spent to create some amenities.

“After he was forced out of the movie ‘Sheesh Mahal’ before com. dhurandhar [‘stalwart’, but more a reference to a recent movie] “Delhi voters, he moved to Punjab, where he got a bungalow, and now he has set up ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ in Lodhi Estate,” Verma claimed.

Verma claimed that Kejriwal’s new residence at 95 Lodhi Estate has five bedrooms and four drawing rooms. He said it has amenities superior to any other bungalow in Lutyens’ Delhi, including those of leaders of other parties, such as the Congress and the DMK.

Raghav Chadha, who recently sent a shockeraccord Within the Aam Aadmi Party Announcing his exit and joining the BJP, he also criticized Kejriwal for his “lavish” house, saying that this is the reason why AAP lost in Delhi.

“The second part of Sheesh Mahal has come in Delhi. Some pictures of it have surfaced. If there is one major reason for the Aam Aadmi Party’s loss in the Delhi elections,” Chadha said in a media interaction on Saturday.

Atishi says: The pictures are fake

Former Delhi CM Atishi of AAP said the photos shown by Verma were fake.

“All the pictures posted by Parvesh Verma are fake. They are not pictures of Kejriwal ji’s house,” she said in X’s post in Hindi.

She said the images were downloaded from the social media site Pinterest to “defame” Kejriwal.

“What are the times for them – when they cannot find anything against Kejriwal ji, they make false allegations based on photos taken from the internet. Parvesh Verma ji: Artificial intelligence could have been used for this instead; the theft will not be detected so quickly at least,” Atishi said.

She added that to find out who is “living lavishly”, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Sahib should open their own houses, and Kejriwal ji will open his own. “The public will decide for themselves.”

The genesis of the “Shish Mahal” class.

This is not the first time the AAP organizer has come under fire over his residence. This is likely to be the third time if the Punjab angle is also accounted for.

In 2025, a similar controversy arose between the BJP and Kejriwal regarding a “7-star” luxury bungalow in the Punjab capital Chandigarh, where Kejriwal allegedly lived while the RJD was still in power in the state.

The BJP then accused Kejriwal of furnishing a “2-acre 7-star luxury government bungalow” in Sector 2 of Chandigarh for himself from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s “share”.

“After vacating Delhi’s Sheesh Mahal, Punjab’s ‘Super CM’ Arvind Kejriwal now has an even more amazing Sheesh Mahal set up in Punjab,” the BJP posted on X, sharing a satellite image of the bungalow.

The AAP rejected the allegations and challenged the BJP to submit any such allotment letter.

the term ‘“Sheesh Mahal” with reference to Kejriwal was the first to describe the BJP as Kejriwal’s former headquarters at 6 Flagstaff Road in Delhi’s Civil Lines.

This was in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections in which the AAP lost to the BJP. The row over housing renovation and Delhi’s liquor policy – a case in which a court recently released Kejriwal and others from all corruption allegations – was the cornerstone of the BJP’s election campaign at the time.

Union Minister Amit Shah had claimed that it was over $Rs 6 crore was spent on the designed marble, $6 crore on motorized blinds, $70 thousand for automatic doors $50 lakh on carpets and $64 lakh on smart TVs at the Prime Minister’s residence when Kejriwal occupied it.
