The popular dessert of the early 2000s suddenly became the center of attraction on Wednesday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Italy as part of his five-nation tour.

‘Melody’, which is hugely popular among millennials, received the endorsement of Prime Minister Modi who gifted a box of the sweets to his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, ahead of a high-level diplomatic engagement.
A video of the Indian Prime Minister openly sharing the gift with the Italian leader has now gone viral.
Hours later, Parle Products, which makes the sweets, thanked the Prime Minister for taking Melody to the world stage.
“Thank you Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for taking Parle Melody to the global stage. It is a proud moment for all of us at Parle Products to see an Indian favorite being shared across borders,” Parle said in a post on X.
Following the Prime Minister’s “Melody moment” video, searches for the term “Melody chocolate” rose by a whopping 1,200 percent within hours of the post being shared on social media, Google Trends data shows. Similar terms like “parle melody” and “melody toffee” saw search interest increase by 4,750 and 950 percent, respectively.
