A bomb threat was sent via email to the passport office in Coimbatore’s Chitra area on Tuesday, leading to tightened security, the official said.
Following the alert, personnel from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the office and conducted thorough inspections of the building to ensure safety.
Police officials have launched an investigation into the threat and are investigating the source and authenticity of the email.

Earlier in the day in Delhi, Axis Bank at the Statesman House building in Connaught Place received a bomb threat via email, with police quickly arriving at the scene to conduct a search.
Police and police dog teams are currently at the scene and are conducting a comprehensive search.

An employee in the building spoke to ANI, stressing that such threats create widespread panic among people, saying, “We were doing our work just like on normal days. Suddenly, there is a call that there is a bomb threat. This creates a state of panic for us. When we came out of the building, we saw that there was a bit of panic. There was a police car. The fire brigade and dog squad also came there.”

“So, this situation was creating, of course, a state of panic for all of us… because after leaving home, this is the only place where we feel safe. If such threats come there, of course it will be a matter of fear,” he added.
Earlier, four schools in the national capital also received bomb threat emails in the morning, sparking panic among parents and authorities.
