Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam attack – which took place a year ago on this day and left 26 people dead.

What was supposed to be a peaceful and joyful day for tourists at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, turned into a tragedy that left an entire nation heartbroken, and families with the loss forever etched in their hearts.

Abdullah recalls the attack, saying, “One year later, we remain united against terrorism and against violence. We remain resolute in our desire to rid Jammu and Kashmir of suffering and deaths of innocent people.”

The Prime Minister described the attack as “cowardly” and said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir “we remain committed to doing everything in our power to ensure this does not happen again.”

“We also remain in eternal solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones a year ago in this cowardly attack. May the souls of the victims of the terrorist attack rest in peace.”

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the attack will neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

“We will not forget. We will not forgive. This is our solemn pledge. India stands united against terrorism. We pledge firm commitment and firm resolve to eradicate terrorism from the territory of Jammu Kashmir,” Sinha said.

LG added: “A humble tribute to the innocent lives lost in the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam on this day in 2025. Their memory remains indelibly in our hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with their families.”

“India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism,” Shah says.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also remembered the victims of the attack, saying India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbor it.

‘Those who lost their lives will never be forgotten’: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid his respects, saying those who lost their lives in the “horrific” attack last year would never be forgotten.

“As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terrorism. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed,” he wrote on X.
